How Our Service Works

Internet Services

What are the key benefits of Atria's Internet services?
  1. Dedicated access connection to the backbone of the Internet that is inherently scaleable to meet your company's growth up to 1000% if necessary.
  2. Symmetrical full-duplex service, no downstream limitations like Bell or cable systems.
What can I expect as part of the original commissioning?
Standard to the Atria Internet Service: up to a /29 block or 6 static IP addresses as per ARIN's justification requirements and transfer of domain name hosting

How does the data transfer work?
Our typical Enterprise IP-5 customer uses approximately 12 GB of data transfer a month and Enterprise IP-10 customers average around 77 GB

How does Atria guarantee its IP connectivity?
Three ways:
  1. Gb-Ethernet interfaces to multiple Tier-1 carriers, ensuring connectivity is not affected even if a carrier's network goes down or is under attack.
  2. Separate and diverse transport paths from Toronto, Buffalo and Detroit can bypass any line breaks and leave Atria's service unaffected.
  3. Peer suppliers are co-ordinated to reduce latency and minimize router hops to any location.

Can I get Internet access over the same WAN connection to reduce my costs?
Yes. The Internet would be provisioned as a separate VLAN. On the customer side, a switch that is capable of accepting IEEE 802.1q standard.

How does Atria guarantee Quality of Service?
Two ways:
  1. We provision a unique and dedicated VLAN for each customer service
  2. We use Ethernet QoS protocols such as 802.1p to guarantee low-latency access at the switch ports for IP telephony and other new generation multi-media services.
How secure are these services?
Atria uses unique VLAN bridging domains for each customer service. A VLAN ensures security by isolating each user's service, so no users outside the VLAN can communicate with them and all broadcast and multi-cast traffic is contained within it.

Remote Storage & Back-up

What network interfaces are offered for the space?
The standard interface is Fast-Ethernet (100 Mbps) provisioned over CAT-6 cable, and Gb Ethernet and OC-3 interfaces are available by special request.

Why do companies use remote storage co-location facilities?
"Always up" production web hosting for sites that need to be up no matter what the weather or power situation. Disaster Recovery - 40% of companies that experience a disaster are out of business within 5 years! Online back-up to ensure that your data back-up is protected, retrievable, and up to date.

Client Care

How long will it take before my Atria connection is activated?
4-6 weeks from the contract execution. Before a contract can be offered to the customer, Atria's Engineering department must perform a site walk to establish the method of entry for our fibre-optic system, which can take up to a week.
